A Local Guide for Factory Operators, Main Contractors and Facilities Teams Across Sections 15, 16, 22, 23 and the Hicom-Glenmarie Belt

Shah Alam is a manufacturing waste problem before it is a construction one

Shah Alam's waste profile is dominated by manufacturing: Sections 15, 16, 22 and 23, plus the Hicom-Glenmarie corridor, produce steady, predictable, segregable streams — metal offcuts, packaging, pallets, plastics, process residues — punctuated by plant upgrades, line relocations and factory extensions that behave like construction jobs. Handled well, the steady streams pay for part of the irregular ones.

Shah Alam sits within our standard Selangor service area, roughly 25–30 km from our Puchong weighbridge via the Kesas and Federal routes.

1. Steady industrial streams: turn a cost into a credit

Factories that segregate at source consistently see the recoverable fraction carry the charge:

  • Ferrous and non-ferrous offcuts — priced against published indices at dispatch, inspection welcome before loading.
  • Pallets and clean timber — graded for resale or chipped for biomass.
  • Cardboard, film and packaging — best collected on a scheduled rotation rather than ad hoc.
  • Mixed general output — priced net of whatever fraction can be pulled back out.

Standing arrangements matter more in Shah Alam than anywhere else we operate: scheduled bins, consolidated monthly statements, and rates that improve with consistency.

2. Scheduled waste: the Shah Alam compliance trap

Manufacturing generates scheduled waste — solvents, contaminated rags, sludges, e-waste, used oil — and the most common failure we audit is misclassification, not illegal dumping. Three rules:

  • We do not treat scheduled waste ourselves, and you should distrust any general operator claiming to. Treatment runs through DOE-approved facilities; we coordinate logistics, classification and documentation.
  • The 180-day rule applies to storage at your premises. Movements must be scheduled inside that clock.
  • eSWIS e-consignment is handled end to end, with records archived to your compliance file.

Classification errors are better found by us than by DOE.

3. Construction and plant-upgrade waste in Shah Alam

Factory extensions, line relocations and warehouse fit-outs produce concrete, steel, cladding and formwork in short, intense bursts. Two practical points:

  • Segregate before the bin arrives, not after. Concrete kept clean carries a recovery credit; the same concrete with insulation and packaging in it becomes a mixed load charged for sorting labour.
  • Decommissioned machinery moves separately. Crane-equipped flatbeds handle plant that is not waste in the ordinary sense, and metal value is credited against the move.

4. Documentation your Shah Alam audit will ask for

Every collection produces a digital consignment note; every load produces a weighbridge ticket the same working day; every month produces a summary with stream tonnage, diversion and residual percentages, and CO₂e displacement estimates with stated methodology. Reports map to GBI, GreenRE and LEED calculators, and adapt to your internal template if you send it. Shah Alam sites fall under Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA) for local approvals; DOE requirements apply nationally.

Shah Alam FAQs

Do you cover all of Shah Alam? Yes — Shah Alam is inside our standard Selangor and Kuala Lumpur on-call coverage, including the Sections 15, 16, 22 and 23 industrial areas and Hicom-Glenmarie.

How fast is a bin swap in Shah Alam? Within hours of request in most Klang Valley zones; ask for the current SLA for your section when you quote.

Can you set up scheduled collections for a factory? Yes. Scheduled bins with consolidated statements are the normal arrangement for regular Shah Alam generators, and rates improve with consistency.

Do you handle scheduled waste from Shah Alam factories? We coordinate it — classification, licensed transport, DOE-approved treatment and eSWIS records. We do not treat it ourselves.

Do your drivers attend factory site inductions? Yes, where required, and they carry the applicable safety cards.

Can you work nights or weekends around production schedules? In most zones, with notice. State the requirement at quotation so it is priced in rather than added later.
